The tadpoles

One day in daddy's truck, I saw a bunch of things swimming around and I soon found out that they were tadpoles! How I found out that they were tadpoles is because I kept hearing a sound coming from the truck until I saw a frog in between the trunk and the front of the truck and I wondered how it got there and so I was amazed. We then raised four of them in the house one went down the drain and another got ripped somehow. Then one day when daddy was going to bed, he checked on the tadpoles and one of them had it's legs sticking out and now they are frogs.

My Fort

I am making a fort in the woods in our yard. It is being made out of an old chicken coop. We are raking out the path and then we are putting pieces of wood on it to fix it up. We put some new roofing up and it is working well. I want to make a bookshelf inside out of the old nesting boxes. We are going to make a flag for the fort. We are putting chairs inside. We plan to play cards or chess out there and also have a reading room. I can't wait until the fort is done.

The Volcano

A couple days ago, a real volcano erupted in Alaska. It wasn't as big as the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius on Pompeii, but it was good enough. We saw a few pictures online but then the camera on the volcano went out.
So then we decided to make our own volcano. We used mud from our yard and put a bottle in the middle for the hole. We covered up the bottle but not the hole on top. We then poured in vinegar, and then added a little bit of baking soda. Then it made something fizzy. It was carbon dioxide. But it looked like the volcano was erupting because it came out of the hole on the top and went down the side of the volcano.
I learned that magma is another name for lava. And there are three types of rocks: igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. Volcanos are igneous rocks.
Volcanoes are really cool. We still have the volcano that we made outside on our porch. We can make it erupt again if we want.

My inventions

I have some inventions I have made with my snap circuit set. I made my own lamp. It has a switch and a button. The switch will turn on the button and then the button makes the light go when I hold it down.
I also made my own alarm circuit. It plays an alarm because there is an alarm that I connected to a speaker and then when I flipped the switch, it turned on the alarm. The alarm sounds like a siren.
There is a piece in the snap circuit set called a photoresistor. The photoresistor only works in the light. If it is in the dark or you cover it up, whatever it is connected to will stop working. It only goes when it is in a lighted room or light shines on it. I had my photoresistor connected to a speaker and it made noise in the room. But when I covered it up, it stopped. The photoresistor is my favorite piece.

My Snap Circuits

I was able to pick out some toys for my birthday and one was called "Snap Circuits". I am able to learn about electricity by building lots of things. So far, I have made a light, a fan, an alarm circuit, et cetera. That means "and all the rest" or "and so forth" in Latin. The snap circits are really fun to do. I had momma help me once and I am now able to figure them out myself.

My Baseball Game

Today's baseball game was really good. The score was 10 to 1. My team won the game. My first hit was an RBI. I got out at first, but the guy at third base ran home and made the first score of the game. My second hit was a single. I got to first base. I only got to second base that time before the inning was over. I played first base and I sat on the bench. This was a very good day for me.

St. Patrick

Today I made a picture of St. Patrick but it turned out looking more like Ramses! St. Patrick taught all the people of Ireland to become a Christian by using a shamrock. He showed them how the three leaves on one stem was like God in the Trinity.

My favorite foods

I have two favorite foods. They are pita and pizza. Pita is good because I like to dip it in hummus. It's fun to watch pita bake and puff at home. I like to eat pizza because it's hot and tasty. The best pizza I like to eat is called white pizza. My two favorite foods, pita and pizza, are really good when they are homemade.

Even though I have lots of favorite foods I like pita and pizza best.

My snowball

A few days ago I made a huge snowball all by myself without any help (except when it was to heavy for me to push.) Today it still stands and it has barely melted. It's really hard, solid, and strong.

My sister's caterpillars

My sister Caroline got her butterfly habitat from Christmas. Today, the caterpillars arrived in the mail. She got five caterpillars. The caterpillars all look like baby worms and they are brownish-black. In a few weeks, they will turn into Painted Lady butterflies.

My day

Yesterday it was really cold, wet, and slippery and today it was mostly the same. This morning when I was coming in with a chicken egg I was walking on some ice and I almost slid and fell. But I caught my balance and I was safe.

After I got inside it was time to school work. I wrote a story about snow. Then, I did some math work. It was triple-digit addition and subtraction. I missed a few but then I noticed what I did and I fixed them. I read some history and science.

One neat thing that I read in my science was about freezing water. When you put water in a glass jar outside on a cold day, the water can freeze and break the jar. Also, I learned that you can make aspirin from coal.

Today I saw some birds from my bedroom window out on the road. There were two birds. One was brown and white and one was red. That was a female cardinal because the males are brighter red and this one was darker.

I like to play Monopoly because it is a fun game. I play with my mother and father. I have won four times, my father has won three and my mother has never won. I like the pot of gold piece.

My Latin

Today my Latin work was hard but fun to do! I reviewed my questions and learned a Latin song called "Dona Nobis Pacem" and practiced the Sanctus. Here are some Latin words I know. They are Deus, gloria, via, amo, and ambulo. My Latin is fun!

Jonathan Kenney

My name is Jonathan Kenney and I am seven years old. I like to get eggs from our chicken coop. In fact, when I went to check them this morning there was one egg. Then when I returned with their food and water I saw that there was another egg in the coop!

The Gupta Dynasty

People in the Gupta dynasty had kings that conquered some kingdoms near India.  These are the names of the kings that conquered the kingdoms near India: Chandragupta, Samudragupta, Kumargupta, and Skandagupta.  

Why I like the Gupta Dynasty is because the kings made smaller kingdoms unite with their kingdom.
